Introduction / Summary (2018): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution.
Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).
Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it - see our 'nice letters' page!).
Sincerely, Karene.

Sacred Sexuality: Worshipping the Goddess Within

Greek Goddess AphroditeSacred Sexuality can be interpretated in many ways. Generally it is recognised as a fusion of sexuality with spirituality. When something is sacred to us, we treat it carefully, with reverence, pay homage, hold it close to our being. In Sacred Sexuality the body and our sexual energies may be considered divine, connected to the One Interconnected Reality. Here we may find liberation, peace, power, confidence and love. By recognising sexuality as sacred, people tend to put more effort into their relationships, creativity and love making (therefore improving their sex life). Greater awareness of our own and other's higher sexual potential may be awakened. As the philosopher Peter Vardy writes;

Psychology has made clear the intimate link between sexuality, personality and human development as well as the need for human integration. Sexuality is an essential part of human nature and each person has to come to wholeness by being able to accept and balance the different aspects of their nature. Sexuality and spirituality may be seen to be connected. (Vardy, The Puzzle of Sex, 1997)

Goddess worship is the connection of feminine energy to the greater energy of the Universe. It is a connection to the source of beauty and life. It can be used to empower women sexually. Being a Goddess can be explored through notions of beauty, power, peace, love, intelligence, enlightenment, nature and being a mother. As a goddess she is to be worshipped (by herself and others), her body a holy temple.
Many religions have female deities and goddesses, for example Kundalini, Kali, Tara and Shakti in Hinduism.

The following quote expresses the foundations of Sacred Sexuality;

Sexual energy is the generative, creative force of the universe. Considering it sacred means to simply live, without restraining or suppressing natural tendencies."The word “sacred” is used here to say that our sexual energy is precious, a treasure to be held dear. Sexual energy is the generative, creative force of the universe. Considering it sacred means to simply live, without restraining or suppressing natural tendencies. It means being authentic, living fully to your own senses, while honouring other people’s views. Sacred sexuality also means practicing spiritual sexual methods for the restoration of youthfulness, optimum health, happiness and an expression of an overall affirmation of life. Exploring sexual energies between men and women can become a sacred and spiritual practice.

As we begin to experience sexual energy as the original, primal raw power that is the undercurrent of both our physical and psychological well being, our sexual interactions begin to change. Sex not only becomes more enjoyable in a certain way, its purpose, to allow each human to develop and experience their true essence, can naturally evolve into a spiritual awareness of the beauty of life. Because room is given for both partners to achieve the highest states of bliss they can, sacred sexuality naturally tends to generate greater tolerance, compassion, and freedom in individuals who practice.

Every Woman is a Goddess: Tantric Sex, Healing, Love, Orgasm, Beauty. Painting 'Primavera' by BotticelliWhether you are in a relationship, or are seeking one, having a good flow of your sexual energy will keep you young, happy, healthy and alive. Unquestionably, our sexual energy influences every facet of our lives. When we feel sick, ill at ease or highly stressed usually our sexual feelings are the first thing to go. Too often, we let all sorts of reasons; as well as poor habits diminish our sexual energy. We gradually lose our sexual prowess and weaken our ability to use the healing powers of sexual energy.

For both men and women good strong orgasms saturate the body with proper levels of hormones, help circulate the blood, move nutrients to every organ, release tensions, and flood us with overall feelings of hope and joy. Sexual energy is very powerful. If neglected, denied or repressed it can cause both physical and emotional dysfunctions. If sex is forced, or expressed without sensitivity and respect it can also cause great damage. Each of us is born through sex. And each of us can learn to harmonise and balance our sexual essence. When shared with care, understanding and love, sexual energy can not only bring deep bliss and joy, ultimately; it can become the means to experiencing the highest states of spiritual transcendence.

Tantra Teaching, Sexual Energy & Sacred Sexuality Counseling

From the website: 'Tantra is a spiritual path of the heart and consciousness. A spiritual path is one where the focus of one’s attention is upon exploring the world through one’s relationship to self and others (expanding awareness).

Tantra is both a science and an art that originates from ancient knowledge in East India, Tibet, Egypt, and China. It is a spiritual path focusing on the power of our creative life force that we commonly refer to as sexual energy. Tantra offers techniques to enhance arousal and one's love making skills, as well as one's entire life, through a deeper understanding and mastery of our life force/libido.

Tantra is a form of yoga that offers a philosophy and practices showing how to generate, enhance and consciously direct life force energy that can awaken, arouse, enlighten, and heal the self and others. Tantra literally means weaving together the polarities of the male and female forces. Through tantric synergistic union, we create harmony and balance to all aspects of the human psyche, mind and body.

Through sacred sex, Tantra teaches fine and sophisticated arts of giving and receiving optimum pleasure for the self and partner - thereby achieving transcendence, or union with the divine, through sexual pleasure and extended orgasm. In orgasm we are truly in the moment - in the place of no mind through which we are the most receptive to our natural bliss - aligned with the high frequency of divine energy and enlightenment.'
