Introduction / Summary (2018): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution.
Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).
Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it - see our 'nice letters' page!).
Sincerely, Karene.

Sexual Slang: 'Ass'
Evolution, Culture & Beauty of Big Boobs & Sexy
Round Butts
'Ass' Etymology & Use in Language
"Arse", from Old English aers means 'tail, rump' and
the Proto-Germanic root arsoz means 'anus', and by extension the
crease between the buttocks of any animal, but especially the human bottom.
'Arse' in English was first recorded circa 1400 (in arce-hoole)
and is commonly used in Commonwealth countries such as Britain, Northern
Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In the United States and parts
of Canada 'ass' is used (both spoken and in writing) instead.
Until the late 18th century, 'ass' presumably had no profane meaning and simply referred to the animal now mostly called donkey.
Ass is one of those words that can be used in a huge variety of ways (positively and negatively). Some examples:
'dumb ass'.
'asshole'
'move your ass' or 'haul ass'
'I'll kick your ass'
'hard ass'
'tight ass'
'a pain in the ass'
'I got some hot ass last night'.

Evolutionary Attraction of the Ass and Boobs
Most consider well-formed buttocks to be sexually attractive. Evolution suggests this is due to our ancestry of copulation from behind. Most of our human sexual instincts were formed before we stood upright, thus the buttocks were highly visible. It is interesting to consider the change in human anatomy from being on all fours to standing upright (which causes the penis and vagina to be highly visible). Did this coincide with women's breasts getting bigger to mimic the buttocks as a form of sexual attraction to the male? The following is from the website:
In his book The Naked Ape, Morris speculates that, as humans evolved from the other primates and began to walk upright, the human female breasts became fleshy and round. This was not due to a biological need to feed children. Females of other primate species are flat chested and have no problems feeding their offspring or attracting mates. But these other primates, as our ancestors most certainly did, use buttock presentation to indicate when they are ready to breed. Since the human female is almost always in a sexually capable condition, the breasts would seem to have become an ever-present sexual display and a form of 'self mimicry' as they are intended to frontally duplicate the female's own round fleshy buttocks, a trait also not found in other primates and one to which the human male had already become conditioned.
An informal poll conducted among thirty-five male steelworkers, concerning what attracts them to women, asked them to rate, in order of importance, the female body parts or areas that most intrigued them. Just over half (eighteen) pronounced themselves to be breast men, and of those, twelve rated buttocks as second on their lists, and four chose legs. Just two opted for the face. When the question was rephrased to ask what first gets their attention when women are walking toward them and then away from them, the first choice, by a wide margin, was breasts (twenty-five), followed in order by hips (five), face (three), and legs (one). When walking away, the response was overwhelmingly in favor of buttocks (thirty-two), followed by legs (two) with one subject electing the calves.
The primitive stages can always be re-established; the primitive mind is, in the fullest meaning of the word, imperishable. ... Mans most disagreeable habits and idiosyncrasies, his deceit, his cowardice, his lack of reverence, are engendered by his incomplete adjustment to a complicated civilisation. It is the result of the conflict between our instincts and our culture. (Sigmund Freud)
Anal Sex and Ass Rimming
Our webpages on Anal
Sex and Ass
Rimming have studies and articles on health benefits, the male g spot,
statistics, how to guide, safety, sharing of diseases, history of different
cultures, evolution & sexual behaviour of other species.
Some ideas we are interested to explore are:
* The male prostate is stimulated during anal sex. Does massaging / stimulating the prostate reduce the incidence of prostate cancer?
* One of the evolved functions of sex (besides reproduction) is the sharing of diseases. It is interesting to consider the receptivity of the anus along with the mouth, vagina and foreskin. Are different diseases and molecules permeable in different parts of the human anatomy?
* The anus is full of sensitive, responsive nerve endings and blood vessels which obviously suggests that we evolved to find anal sex pleasurable. However there is a contradiction in that the anus not lubricate when stimulated like the vagina.
* Benzene (a common solvent and known toxin of the immune system) is found in most sexual lubricants. Is there a higher incidence of benzene related diseases amongst gay men?
Sexual Arousal and the Buttocks of other Animals
The following academic essay shows that the ass has strong visual significance relating to sexual attraction in many primates. Humans have lost the 'rump patch' which we have replaced with more creative displays of sexual attraction e.g. tight jeans, short skirts and stockings. It is not just the ass which is sexually arousing, but the connection of the leg down to the ankle. Perhaps the seam of stockings down the back of the legs appeals to this primitive instinct as the article explains:
Among mammals with poor color vision, rump patches are light or cream colored. Among primates, however, who have excellent color vision, the rump patch is often naked (except in some lemurs, where it is white), and usually a brilliant vermilion, purple, blue, or lilac. They also enlarge in size when the female is in heat - a flashy visual advertisement of her state. It is interesting that our nearest living anthropoid relative, the chimp, has the best developed rump patch of almost any of the primate groups, and we do not - though we certainly must have had some gadget back there in the past.
Rump patches in other organisms aren't limited to buttocks, however, but flow down the back of the leg like dripping cream to reach the heel. This is especially true of the sheep. From the rear view the whole poster is a sexual signal. So it is also with humans. The buttock region is the focus of sexual attraction, but the erotic zone flows down the back portion of the leg from the thighs' backside, the knees' backside, over the smooth lines of the calf, to the ankle.
