Introduction / Summary (2018): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution.
Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).
Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it - see our 'nice letters' page!).
Sincerely, Karene.

Female Menstrual Cycle
Evolution & Menstruation, Anatomy, Ovulation, Hormones, Pictures

'I have the feeling that in spite of all the pain, unpleasantness and nastiness I have a sweet secret.' (Anne Frank, writing about menstruation in her diary)

Hi there. Menstruation is very interesting from an evolutionary perspective. I will be collecting latest research and reports, for now here are some ideas to explore:

Age of first period in tribal society compared to present day.

How many periods women had in tribal society compared to present day (i.e. in our evolutionary past women would menstruate, get pregnant, breastfeed. Therefore have many less periods.)

Studies show a relationship between high number of periods and breast cancer.

Studies show that girls begin to menstruate earlier if their father is not around.

The visibility of menstruation as opposed to hidden ovulation (sign of fertility).

Why do women menstruate if it is such an unnecessary waste of nutrients?

Menstruation ceases if environment is harsh.

Synchronicity of female cycle with other females.

Menstrual cycles of lesbians compared with heterosexual women.

Role of orgasm and seminal fluid.

Cheers,
Karene

Hormones in Menstrual Cycles may affect Cancer Risk

Several reproductive factors have been linked to increased risk of breast cancer - from early menses and late menopause to childlessness and late age at first pregnancy. A new study would add yet another: menstrual cycles that are typically either shorter or longer than average.
The researchers suspect that hormones in general, and their peaks during an ovulatory cycle, collectively affect cancer risk.

Breast Cancer, Menstruation, Diet & Exercise

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between diet, physical activity and when a woman has her first menstrual period (menarche). The exact cause (or causes) of breast cancer remains unknown; however, certain aspects of a woman's life appear to increase her chances that she will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. A woman who has her first menstrual period at an early age is more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer than a woman who has her first menstrual period at a later age.
