Instagram Profile - Karene (Sexual Evolution)

Karene

Introduction / Summary (2018): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution.
Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).
Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it - see our 'nice letters' page!).
Sincerely, Karene.

"It is not enough to conquer; one must learn to seduce." (Voltaire) - "Desire is the essence of a man." (Spinoza)

There are no scientific studies that show that exposure to nonviolent sexual material causes a person to commit a sexual crime or become more sexually aggressive. (Dr. Judith Becker, associate professor of clinical psychology at Columbia University. https://www.cybercollege.com/sexrsh.htm)

Pornography and Censorship: Definition & Debate. Liberals, Feminists & Religious Conservatives

From the website: 'Can a government legitimately prohibit citizens from publishing or viewing pornography, or would this be an unjustified violation of basic freedoms?
This question lies at the heart of a debate that raises fundamental issues about just when, and on what grounds, the state is justified in using its coercive powers to limit the freedom of individuals.

Traditionally, liberals defended the freedom of consenting adults to publish and consume pornography in private from moral and religious conservatives who wanted pornography banned for its obscenity, its corrupting impact on consumers and its corrosive effect on traditional family and religious values. But, in more recent times, the pornography debate has taken on a somewhat new and surprising shape.
Some feminists have found themselves allied with their traditional conservative foes in calling on the state to regulate or prohibit pornography - although the primary focus of feminist concern is on the harm that pornography may cause to women (and children). And some liberals have joined pro-censorship feminists in suggesting that the harms that violent and degrading pornography causes to women's social standing and opportunities might be sufficiently serious to justify prohibiting pornography. Many others, both liberals and feminists, remain unconvinced. They are doubtful that pornography is a significant cause of the oppression of women or that the 'blunt and treacherous weapon' of the law is the best solution to such harm as pornography may cause. As we shall see, the debate over whether pornography should be censored remains very much alive.

Sexual Offenders & Pornography: A Causal Connection?

The question of whether a connection exists between the availability of pornography and the prevalence of sex crime is an emotive one, canvassing as it does the issue of freedom of speech. As a result there has been, perhaps, a tendency to shoot the messenger, ignore the research or express concern while at the same time opposing censorship and not being particularly helpful in suggesting alternative remedies.

'Pornography has been so thickly glossed over with the patina of chic these days in the name of verbal freedom and sophistication that important distinctions between freedom of political expression (a democratic necessity), honest sex education for children (a societal good) and ugly smut (the deliberate devolution of the role of women through obscene, distorted depictions) have been hopelessly confused.' (Brownmiller, 1975)

Pornography & the Politics of Fantasy

'Bound and Gagged' a book by Laura Kipnis, challenges the position that pornography perpetuates misogyny and sex crimes. Using examples of social hysteria as a springboard, Kipnis argues that criminalizing fantasy - even perverse and unacceptable fantasy - has dire social consequences. Exploring the entire spectrum of pornography, she declares that 'porn isn't just about gender and that fantasy doesn't necessarily constitute intent.'

Report on Pornography, Right and Left Sides of Brain

The visual image is processed by the right side of the brain; print by the left. The latter is rational and analytical; the former holistic and pattern-recognising. Questions need to be asked about the impact of the visual (whether photographic or film) image on the brain, particularly the male brain, which recent research indicates has much less connection between its left and right halves than the female brain, and therefore possibly much less opportunity for the rational left to control the impulses generated by the impressionistic right.

Study of Arousal in Gay & Heterosexual Men & Women

Three decades of research on men's sexual arousal show patterns that clearly track sexual orientation - gay men overwhelmingly become sexually aroused by images of men and heterosexual men by images of women.
In contrast to men, both homosexual and heterosexual women showed a bisexual pattern of psychological as well as genital arousal. That is, heterosexual women were just as sexually aroused by watching female stimuli as by watching male stimuli, even though they prefer having sex with men rather than women.

Strong Response to Erotic Pictures in both Male & Female Brains

A new study suggests the brain is quickly turned on and 'tuned in' when a person views erotica. When volunteers viewed erotic pictures, their brains produced electrical responses that were stronger than those elicited by other material that was viewed (no matter how pleasant or disturbing). This difference in brainwave response emerged very quickly, suggesting that different neural circuits may be involved in the processing of erotic images. Women had responses as strong as those seen in men.

Study of the Brain while watching Pornography

By studying men watching pornographic videos, researchers in Canada have pinpointed areas of the brain that become active when the men tried to avoid being stimulated. In evolutionary terms, these regions of restraint (the prefrontal cortex) are newer than the more primitive areas where the sexual urges arise in the first place (the limbic system).

Virtual Child Pornography & the U.S. Supreme Court

From the essay: 'Child pornography is an exception to First Amendment freedoms because it exploits and abuses our nation's youth. The latest trend in that industry is 'virtual child' pornography which does not use real children or images of real identifiable children. When the object of desire is not a child, but merely a combination of millions of computer pixels crafted by a skilled artist, can the government ban this allegedly victimless creation?'

Computer Generated Child Pornography and the Law

From the website: 'Some countries, including Canada and Germany, prohibit 'virtual' child pornography in addition to the 'actual' variety. Virtual pornography comes in two forms: depictions in which adult models are made up to look like children, and artistic or computer simulations of children involved in sexual activity. Laws against virtual child pornography are controversial because they can cover a broad range of material, thus raising concerns about their impact on freedom of expression. In addition, the harm caused by virtual child pornography is less direct and obvious than that caused by actual child pornography.'

Pornography Quotes

Pornography is the unconsciousness of culture, the libido of humanity. (Masami Akita)

What is pornography to one man is the laughter of genius to another. (D.H. Lawrence, British Poet, Novelist and Essayist, 1885 - 1930)

Nine-tenths of the appeal of pornography is due to the indecent feelings concerning sex which moralists inculcate in the young; the other tenth is physiological, and will occur in one way or another whatever the state of the law may be. (Bertrand Russell, English Logician and Philosopher 1872 - 1970)

Pornography is about dominance. Erotica is about mutuality. (Gloria Steinem, American Writer and Activist. b.1935)

Supreme Court says pornography is anything without artistic merit that causes sexual thoughts; that's their definition, essentially. No artistic merit, causes sexual thoughts. Hmm. . . . Sounds like . . . every commercial on television, doesn't it? (Bill Hicks quotes, American Comedian, b.1961)

Porn-Opine Blog: Pornography Reviews, Sex Toys, Fetish, Masturbation

From the website: 'I am going to be giving my unfounded thoughts in a decisive, unmistakable manner regarding an ill-defined subject: Porn.'

Tuesday, January 24, 2006. Getting My Mocks Off

'Porn exists because people want it. We want it to get off. We want it to get our partners off. We want it to mock. But we want it.

What people want isn't always good for them. They may partake of too much. You can hurt yourself with too much of a good thing. ... The secret is diversification. The wise investor never invests their entire savings in one company, no matter how much of a 'sure thing' it seems to be. Porn, or rather sex, is the same way. You're not to build your entire life on a platform of porn. Healthy sexuality is about allowing yourself entertainment and pleasure, yes. But part of this is sex within the context of caring relationships - you know, emotions, human connections. These are like the peas & carrots on your sex plate.

But if you aren't to exist sexually only on a diet of porn, neither are you to build your life on a foundation of fundamentalist forbearance. If you personally are allergic to porn, I won't make you watch it. But you can't take away any of my pies, Boston Creme or Penile Cream Pie. Prohibiting porn, suppression, oppression, this, my friends, leads to repression - or sexual rickets, if you will. Remember, denial is a form of excess. And where there is excess, there is no balance. And I don't know about you, but my sex requires balance.'

The Porn Myth: Turning Men Off Real Naked Women

From the essay: 'Young men and women are being taught what sex is, how it looks, what its etiquette and expectations are, by pornographic training - and this is having a huge effect on how they interact. Far from having to fend off porn-crazed young men, young women are worrying that they can hold their attention.'

Analyse any human emotion, no matter how far it may be removed from the sphere of sex, and you are sure to discover somewhere the primal impulse, to which life owes its perpetuation.Analyse any human emotion, no matter how far it may be removed from the sphere of sex, and you are sure to discover somewhere the primal impulse, to which life owes its perpetuation. ... The primitive stages can always be re-established; the primitive mind is, in the fullest meaning of the word, imperishable. ... Mans most disagreeable habits and idiosyncrasies, his deceit, his cowardice, his lack of reverence, are engendered by his incomplete adjustment to a complicated civilisation.
