Karene

Introduction / Summary (2018): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution.
Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).
Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it - see our 'nice letters' page!).
Sincerely, Karene.

STD's: Genital Warts (HPV)
Information on Sexual Health & the Human Papillomavirus

Genital Warts & HPV: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment

From the website: 'Genital warts may be small, flat, flesh colored bumps or tiny, cauliflower-like bumps. In men, genital warts can grow on the penis, near the anus, or between the penis and the scrotum. In women, genital warts may grow on the vulva and perineal area, in the vagina and on the cervix. Genital warts vary in size and may even be so small that you can't see them. They can lead to cancer of the cervix in women or cancer of the penis in men.

Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). There are many kinds of HPV. Not all of them cause genital warts. HPV is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). The most common way to get HPV is by having oral, vaginal or anal sex with someone who has HPV. Just because you can't see warts on your partner doesn't mean he or she doesn't have HPV. Using condoms may prevent you from catching HPV. However, condoms can't always cover all of the affected skin.

If you notice warts in your genital area, see your doctor. For women, a Pap test can help detect changes on the cervix that genital warts can cause.

The warts can be removed, but the viral infection itself can't be cured. The virus goes on living inside your skin. This is why the warts often return after they have been removed. One way to remove the warts is to freeze them. This is called cryotherapy. The warts can also be taken off with a laser. Special chemicals can be used to remove the warts. These chemicals dissolve warts in the genital area.'

Genital Warts (HPV) Statistics

From the website: 'Genital warts are one of the most common causes of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the world (caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) virus).

Experts estimate that as many as 26 million Americans are infected with HPV and the rate of infection appears to be increasing. About one-third of HPV-type viruses are spread through sexual contact and live only in genital areas of the body. Only one type of HPV causes genital warts. Other types of HPV cause cervical cancer and other genital cancers.

Like many sexually transmitted diseases, HPV usually causes a silent infection - one that does not have visible symptoms. People may not be aware of their infection or the potential risk of transmission to others because they don't know they have it. Remember, genital warts are very contagious!'
