Introduction / Summary (2018): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution.
Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).
Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it - see our 'nice letters' page!).
Sincerely, Karene.

Sexual Dysfunction in Men & Women: Desire, Arousal, Orgasm & Pain Disorders
From the website: 'Sexual dysfunction disorders are generally classified into 4 categories: sexual desire, sexual arousal, orgasm and sexual pain disorders.
Sexual desire disorders (decreased libido) may be caused by a decrease in the production of estrogen (in women) or testosterone (in both men and women). Other causes may be aging, fatigue, pregnancy, drugs, depression and anxiety.
Sexual arousal disorders were previously known as frigidity in women and impotence in men. These have now been replaced with less judgmental terms - impotence is now known as erectile dysfunction, and frigidity is now described as any of several specific problems with desire, arousal or anxiety.
For both men and women, these conditions may appear as an aversion to sexual contact with a partner. In men, there may be partial or complete failure to attain or maintain an erection, or a lack of sexual excitement and pleasure in sexual activity. There may be medical causes for these disorders, such as decreased blood flow or lack of vaginal lubrication. Chronic disease may also contribute to these difficulties, as well as the nature of the relationship between partners.
Orgasm disorders are a persistent delay or absence of orgasm following a normal sexual excitement phase. The disorder occurs in both women and men.
Sexual pain disorders affect women almost exclusively, and are known as dyspareunia (painful intercourse) and vaginismus (an involuntary spasm of the muscles of the vaginal wall, which interferes with intercourse). Dyspareunia may be caused by insufficient lubrication (vaginal dryness) in women.
Poor lubrication may result from insufficient excitement and stimulation, or from hormonal changes caused by menopause, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Irritation from contraceptive creams and foams may also cause dryness, as can fear and anxiety about sex.'

Female Sexual Dysfunction & Drug Companies
From the essay: 'The corporate sponsored creation of a disease is not a new phenomenon, but the making of female sexual dysfunction is the freshest, clearest example we have.
.. One of the milestones in the making of the new disorder was a JAMA article in February 1999 titled "Sexual dysfunction in the United States: prevalence and predictors." The authors, two of whom belatedly disclosed close links to Pfizer, said that for women aged 18 - 59, the "total prevalence of sexual dysfunction" was 43%, a figure now widely cited in both the scientific and lay media.
Serious questions hang over the 43% figure, obtained when University of Chicago sociology professor Ed Laumann and colleagues reanalysed a slice of data from a 1992 survey. About 1500 women were asked to answer yes or no to whether they had experienced any of seven problems, for two months or more, during the previous year, including a lack of desire for sex, anxiety about sexual performance, and difficulties with lubrication. If the women answered yes to just one of the seven questions, they were included in a group characterised as having sexual dysfunction.
"The danger of portraying sexual difficulties as a dysfunction is that it is likely to encourage doctors to prescribe drugs to change sexual function - when the attention should be paid to other aspects of the woman's life. It's also likely to make women think they have a malfunction when they do not." (Dr John Bancroft, Director of the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University).'

Arousal in Women, Viagra & Erotica: 'All in the Mind'
Scientists have concluded that women achieve most sexual satisfaction through
the stimulation of their brain and not any other organ. After eight years
of tests involving 3,000 women, Pfizer, the company behind Viagra,
the little blue pill that has transformed men's sex lives, has abandoned
efforts to prove that the drug works for females too.
Studies found that even though Viagra induced a greater pelvic blood flow
in women, they did not feel substantially more aroused.

Analyse any human emotion, no matter how far it may be removed from the sphere of sex, and you are sure to discover somewhere the primal impulse, to which life owes its perpetuation. ... The primitive stages can always be re-established; the primitive mind is, in the fullest meaning of the word, imperishable. ... Mans most disagreeable habits and idiosyncrasies, his deceit, his cowardice, his lack of reverence, are engendered by his incomplete adjustment to a complicated civilisation. It is the result of the conflict between our instincts and our culture. (Sigmund Freud)
