Karene

Introduction / Summary (2018): Hello and welcome to our Sexuality pages. While this is not a pornographic site, it is provocative - founded upon what people search on the Internet (which is very interesting!). We then relate this to our biological and cultural evolution.
Sex is obviously important to people - and if you want to improve your sexual relationships then knowing the truth about our human evolution is the best foundation. By opening our minds to a greater diversity of behaviors, this knowledge will help you creatively cultivate healthy pleasurable moral attitudes and sexy smutty relationships (free from religious guilt & cultural myths).
Support an open honest discussion on the truth of our sexual evolution and behaviour. If you support sex positive, moral, informed sexual behaviour please share this knowledge. (These pages have a diverse collection of fascinating information relating to our human sexual evolution so people will appreciate it - see our 'nice letters' page!).
Sincerely, Karene.

"It is not enough to conquer; one must learn to seduce." (Voltaire) - "Desire is the essence of a man." (Spinoza)

On the Health Benefits of Sex

To paraphrase a great old slogan for Guinness beer: Sex isn’t just good, it’s good for you! The evidence is accumulating that the more sex you have, the better off you are.
Some potential benefits of sex are: easing depression and stress, relieving pain, boosting cardio health, countering prostate cancer, healing wounds and fighting aging.

Cultural Myths About Male Sexuality

From the website: 'The myths regarding male sexuality have been particularly tenacious because men have traditionally not talked about their sexual feelings and experiences honestly and openly with each other. Our culture has perpetuated these myths and makes it difficult for men to admit to any lack of knowledge or experience, and this has lead to feelings of isolation and inadequacy for many men.
There have been positive signs recently that this is changing. The men's movement is beginning to redefine what it means to be a man, and qualities of gentleness, caring, and vulnerability are becoming more valued. More men are beginning to discuss their sexuality more openly, and this can only benefit both the men themselves and their partners.

Myths debunked include penis size, that men are always willing and want sex, very few men are virgins, sex requires an erection, sex is over when a man comes, all orgasms are earth shattering, men in relationships don't masturbate.'

Aging in Men: Decrease in Sexual Arousal & Activity

From the essay: 'Few studies have assessed the role of pituitary and gonadal hormones on age related changes in sexual behavior in healthy men. We conducted an evaluation of sexual function and behavior in 77 healthy married men aged 45 to 74 years. The subjects were studied in the sleep laboratory for four nights with the last night devoted to sequential blood sampling every 20 minutes.
Significant age related decreases in sexual desire, sexual arousal and activity, and increases in erectile problems were noted. Aging was negatively correlated with bioavailable testosterone (bT), was positively correlated with luteinizing hormone (LH), and was not related to total testosterone, estradiol, and prolactin.
There was no evidence that changes in circulating hormones contribute to erectile disorders in healthy aging men.'

The Easy Erection: Sexologists Experiment with Viagra

An interesting essay written by two sexologists who experiment with Viagra. They are concerned that the emotional or psychological aspects of erectile dysfunction (stress, anxiety, disconnection from partner, lack of communication) are not being addressed by doctors prescribing Viagra (which helps the physical ailment).
Note: It is very difficult to prove that sexual disorders are physical or psychological. They are an interconnected mix of both.

Australian Study of Sexual Health and Relationships

Alfred Kinsey on Male Homosexuality

'The data indicates that at least 37% of the male population has some homosexual experience between the beginning of adolescence and old age. Among the males who remain unmarried until the age of 35, almost 50 % have had a homosexual experience.
It is true that there are persons in the population whose histories are exclusively heterosexual and exclusively homosexual. But the record shows that there is a considerable portion of the population whose members have combined both homosexual and heterosexual experience.'

Analyse any human emotion, no matter how far it may be removed from the sphere of sex, and you are sure to discover somewhere the primal impulse, to which life owes its perpetuation.Analyse any human emotion, no matter how far it may be removed from the sphere of sex, and you are sure to discover somewhere the primal impulse, to which life owes its perpetuation. ...
